Spring Break Program

This is our second Spring Break at Alcott Elementary School (2625 N Orchard St, Chicago, IL 60614) . We will operate out of Door 1, off of Orchard Street.
April 3 - 7 | M - F | 7:45a - 5:45p | All activities, hours, programs, snacks and lunch are included | Ages 5-12
Technology
Can kids code? We think kids can do anything! Especially if we give them the tools and get out of their way! Campers of all levels from beginner to expert are welcome here.
Salsa Making
Join us on Tuesday for Salsa making! We will be in the cafeteria for Salsa making workshops. Gluten-free and regular tortilla chips will be available for campers to enjoy their salsa after they chop, mix, and create!
Outdoor Recreation
Swing on by the monkey bars, shoot some hoops, feel the breeze and you whisk yourself down the slide! Spring Break can mean any kind of weather in Chicago. If its cold, pack your winter coat, if it’s really warm, pack your bathing suit. In addition to an incredible fenced in playground and sports field we will have some really fun things like pickleball, flick a chicken (don’t worry, no actual chickens are being thrown, just rubber chickens) and more! Join a small group of campers, or take a minute to relax solo, whatever your mood, the outdoors await. With our camp design, traditional sports are replaced by quick games, drills or challenges that are lead by the campers. Staff are present to help them come up with ideas if they like! The playground will also be open during set times.
Indoor Games
Beat the heat or the cold, after all it is Chicago, we never know what the weather will hold. Enjoy giant connect 4, classic checkers, Taco Cat Goat Cheese PIzza, chess and many more!
Engineering
It all begins with an idea. And if the ideas are not flowing, there are some inspirational project ideas sitting nearby. Endless creations, endless collaborations. We provide the materials the kids need to unleash their creativity as they navigate creating their own projects.
Crochet
Happening indoors and outdoors, using hooks, or their very own fingers as tools, There is no limit to what campers can crochet.
Chalk City
We’ve got chalk for days! Campers can take the positive messages, ideas, and artistic creations to the pavement!

Sample Lunch Menu
We will be testing our menu options in February 2023 and finalizing the menu by the end of March 2023. We wanted to include the below menu of what was offered last year so that caregivers could have an idea of the type of food we may offer.

What? Yep, we test all of our potential menu items with the campers themselves. We like that about us! They get a say because we want to do our best to find great favorable options, it is just how we do things, we put kids and families first.
At check-in campers choose between a crowd pleasing piece of pizza (gluten free and regular will be available) or a daily choice entree. Along with those options, campers will be offered crunchy carrots to munch on.
Daily Features:
Monday: Mostaccioli - Delicious mostaccioli noodles tossed in a vegetarian marinara sauce
Tuesday: Steak Sandwich - Juicy slices of steak served between slices of local bread.
Wednesday: Cheese Tortellini - Tender cheese tortellini topped with vegetarian tomato sauce
Thursday: Chicken Fingers - All-natural chicken strips
Friday: Chicken Caesar Salad - Crisp Romaine lettuce, sharp Parmesan cheese and crunchy croutons served with grilled chicken strips

In addition to our everyday program options, we have some special fun planned! We’re planning what is to come and we will have these awesome updates by March 15, 2023.
Below are our 2022 specials to give caregivers and idea of the fun that will announced by Feb 1:
Monday: Mad Science - join us after lunch where were mix science and art together for a wild take on spring art!
Tuesday: Taster’s Choice - join us at 9am in the cafeteria for a sweet salsa made by you, for you. After you make your salsa, try a variety of food vehicles to get that salsa to your taste buds and see which combo you enjoy the most.
Wednesday: Foam Party - join us on the pavement at 2:30! This special is weather dependant
Thursday: Best of Three - Pie Me - Join the staff and your fellow campers for a series of fun contest that lead to whip cream ‘pie’ throwing
Friday: Eggstravaganza - join us at 3pm, for a twist on the classic egg hunt
Registration will take about 20 minutes per camper. To help expedite the process, we recommend gathering your child’s health insurance, doctor and emergency contact/pick-up information ahead of time as we will ask for all of that information during registration. See you for Spring Break!
